Course duration: 2 Days
Audience: Anyone who by virtue of their work is required to work at height on Towers, Masts and other lattice structures.
Course aim: To Provide enough practical experience and education to allow delegates to operate safely and efficiently on lattice structures both using recognised access ways and in unprotected areas.
Course Syllabus: Day 1 Morning
Legislation when working at height
Risk Assessment and Hazard identification
Personal Protective Equipment – inspection & use
Day 1 Afternoon
Access ways –
protected & unprotected Climbing techniques in exposed locations
Day 2 Morning
Temporary fall arrest systems
High level climbing in exposed locations
Day 2 Afternoon
Practical assessment to include all aspects of climbing and equipment use
Theoreatical Assessment
Pre-training requirements: Medical Questionnaire
Maximum Instructor to student ratio: 1 : 6
Period of valid certification: The certificate is valid for a maximum of three years, subject to maintenance of skill level
Throughout the course, the student will be continually assessed and expected to complete a written and practical examination.
Only on successful completion of the whole course and examination will the candidate be issued with a Certificate of Competence.
The Advanced Climber Course is written and conducted to BS 8454
