Duration: 5 Days

Audience: Anyone wishing to take up field based roles within the telecommunication industry.
Our Advanced Industrial Climber, Tower Rescue, RF Safety Awareness and
Rooftop Safety And Awareness are all Arqiva approved training courses.

Course Aim: To provide a skill set required by potential employers within the telecommunication
industry that is approved by Arqiva.
Syllabus: This course covers practical and theoretical modules from the following courses.

Advanced Industrial Climber

Tower Rescue

Rooftop Safety And Awareness

First Aid At Height

RF Hazard Awareness

Prerequisites: Reasonable level of health, fitness and aptitude.
Max. Ratio: 6 Delegates to 1 instructor.

Certification Expiry: The main certificate is valid for a maximum of three years, subject to maintenance of
skill level. The tower rescue module is only valid for 1 year.

Throughout the Telecoms Climber Passport course, the student will be continually assessed and expected to complete a written
and practical examination.

Only on successful completion of the whole course and examination will the candidate be issued with
a certificate of competency.

This course is designed and delivered using BS8454 (code of practice for the delivery of training
and education for work at height and rescue) and IRATA international code of practice and equipment
manufacturers technical instructions.

WORK AT HEIGHT – ROOFTOP SAFETY AND ACCESS – 1 DAY

The course is intended for persons working on rooftops both within and
outside of protected areas

Duration: 1 Day.
Audience: Any person who may have to work on flat rooftops.
Course Aim: To identify where there is a risk of falling whilst working on a rooftop and the use of suitable equipment and techniques that protect against falls.
Syllabus: Pre use inspection of PPE equipment
Work at height harness donning
Understanding the principles of work restraint
Understanding the principles of fall arrest
Using work restraint systems
Using self retracting fall arrest systems
Using fall arrest twin energy absorbing lanyards
Understanding the severity of falls
Understanding suspension intolerance
Using self rescue techniques
Understanding the hierarchy of fall control measures
Identification of work at height hazards
Identification of rooftop hazards

For any persons working on lattice structures using both protected access ways, platforms and on unprotected areas.

Course Aim: To provide enough practical experience and education to
allow delegates to operate safely and efficiently on lattice structures both
using recognised access routes and in more exposed areas.
Syllabus: PPE Pre-use inspection
Harness donning
Understanding work restraint principles
Understanding fall arrest principles
Use of self retracting lifelines
Use of guided type fall arrest systems
Use of twin energy absorbing lanyards

WORK AT HEIGHT – TOWER RESCUE – 1 DAY (CAN INCLUDE ROOFTOP RESCUE)

The course is designed to give a work team a buddy rescue system where all members of the team can carry out a rescue of an incapacitated colleague should an emergency arise.

Course Aim: To provide enough practical experience and education to competently perform an evacuation of an incapacitated climber from a structure by using an abseil rescue system.

Descending with 1 person

Prerequisites: Suitable work at height qualification/experience.
